Real Talk
More from the eye of the writing storm...loving my hometown again (can you believe it?). It started last week when I went to a taping for a K'Naan segment on the Multicultural Channel. It was a dim-lit club setting--hot and sweaty as hell--but so inspiring. Sol Guy hosting and K'Naan doing his thing with a full band. "Strugglin'" is something else live.
This weekend hit a birthday BBQ for my friend Angela and it was all about sunshine, and grilled hot dogs, and strawberry rhubarb pie, and toddlers racing around the yard stealing sweets, and lots of welcome-back hugs. Tonight it's more of the same down at Kits Beach.
And in between...a bunch of assignments for the newspaper (trying to figure out how I feel about Missy Elliott's latest), drinking sweet milky Thai tea, and morning writing sessions. Reading Writing Down the Bones and re-reading The Alchemist to keep me wide open.
