New Year
Listening to Fabolous (to get myself hyped enough to work) and Mariah (to chill when I'm done). Fourth day of two double-o six and already hard at work on my game plan. First off, trying to organize an interview with a certain rapper for the next time I'm in New York.
Which should be soon, I'm happy to say. (In an ideal world--one where I was balling non-stop--I would stay here.)
Plus, I've been at the gym. I can hardly move, in fact. Been hobbling around my apartment all day. Worked out yesterday with my trainer, who has been kicking my ass on the regular.
Anyway, for those who care more about hip-hop than the state of my physical fitness...
The UK's Advertising Standard Authority has ruled that 50 Cent's movie poster is in violation of codes that govern advertising and violence. According to the ASA:
"His association with gang culture and criminal behavior was likely to be seen as glamorizing and condoning the possession and use of guns. We also considered the combination of the title, Get Rich or Die Tryin', and the image of Curtis '50 Cent' Jackson carrying a gun could give the impression that success could be achieved through violence."
Here's a British perspective on the whole fiasco. As for me, I am about as tired of 50's hysterical critics as I am of his SuperThug image. In the words of Remy Ma: whuteva.
But speaking of the U.K., Hattie Collins has some nice year-end summaries up right now.
