Press Clips

Check out my DOSE interview with Jian Ghomeshi, a music-lover if there ever was one. He gave me his top 10 tracks of all time. I've been trying to figure out what mine would be. More on that later.

Also, check out Laina Dawes excellent article in The Toronto Star on race and blogging. The piece raises powerful questions about how Canadians see ourselves. According to Toronto writer Dwayne Hunter:

"As Canadians we hear, and often repeat to others, that Canada is a multicultural society where people from all over the world, of different race, creed, and religion, can come and live in harmony. But racism does exist in Canada. Quietly, but it is here all the same. It spills out unknowingly from the bag when you least expect it to. It comes in the form of a derogatory comment you're not quite sure you heard."

We're big on that "nope, no racism here" myth in Canada, and it's about time someone called the country out on it. Kudos, Laina.

In other news...I'm cooking tonight! Making crab cakes and parmesan risotto and a mixed green salad with balsamic dressing for my old roomie Dukes. Wish I had the Lady Sovereign album here to bump.

Was thinking about the marriage contract that Bol and Bomani posted on. I wish dudes like Travis Frey would stop with all their ignorant nonsense. Because when I am in a relationship, I like to cook for my man and do the whole Beyonce "Cater 2 U" routine. But then this sort of sexist insanity pops up (or some less extreme variation of it) and I feel like I have to refuse my Betty Crocker tendencies just to prove a point, or defend my gender, or make sure I don't come off like some 50s housewife. In other words, the fools ruin things for the rest of the fellas.
